Nadler's opened in 1963 as a bakery and delicatessen, and the kitchen still runs both. Breakfast plates in the morning, sandwiches built to order through lunch, meats and cheeses by the quarter pound.

San Antonio Tradition. One Staple
Hans B. Nadler trained as a pastry chef in Europe before coming to Texas. In 1962 he partnered with Hungry Jack's Delicatessen to open the Cream Puff Bakery; a year later he bought his partner out, and Nadler's Bakery & Delicatessen became a reality.
He spent more than fifty years teaching his trade techniques to the staff and won numerous awards for his contribution to the bakery industry — the greatest being his recognition as the 2011 International Baker of the Year.
The family still runs the bakery. The wedding cake boutique — another first for San Antonio — is the responsibility of the Nadlers' second daughter, Alexia Janine, who serves as Wedding Cake Consultant and Operating Manager.
